We wouldn´t even think when we looked at these fixtures that it will be this tricky to remove them from their place. It´s huge and it´s really heavy! Meet our newest item: the caterpillar lamp.
We found them while we were treasure hunting in one of Europe`s largest chemical plant and instantly fell in love with them. They were hanging there since the late 70`s when the site was built and lighting up the outer area of the buildings ever since.
Read about these lights a lot a few months back and we were extremely thrilled when these pieces came our way. We knew that these are not everyday table lamps but much more serious illuminators.
These fixtures were manufactured by the former East-Germany company EOW (Elektroinstallation Oberweimar) and were only made in small quantity therefore they are really hard to find nowadays.
It has a 1cm thick glass cover and both pieces of the upper body is made of cast aluminium. They weight 30kg/each. This is some serious stuff.
Once was a HQL light as now converted to receive normal E27 bulbs for domestic use.
